FUSD School Board Meeting
The Fresno Unified School District Board Meeting is an important space for families to stay informed about decisions that affect students, classrooms, and neighborhood schools. This meeting also matters because the proposed SEDA development could significantly impact FUSD if it moves forward. Many families are concerned that rapid development without proper planning may strain already crowded schools, increase class sizes, and redirect resources away from existing students.
If you believe the SEDA plan could negatively affect your child’s education or your neighborhood schools, this is the time to voice your concerns. Let the FUSD School Board know you want them to ADOPT Resolution #26‑65 opposing SEDA and stand with families who are advocating for responsible development that protects students and schools.
Date: Wednesday, May 13, 2026
Time: 7pm-9pm
Location: 2309 Tulare Street - 2nd floor board forum

Jackson 6th Grade Entrepreneurial Fair
Join us for an inspiring evening at the Jackson 6th Graders Entrepreneurial Extravaganza Fair! This year’s event is rooted in the work of Ty Allan Jackson, founder of Big Head Books. In 2010, Ty launched his publishing company after self‑publishing Danny Dollar Millionaire: The Lemonade Escapade, a book inspired by his young son’s curiosity about how kids can build successful businesses. The book—and its companion workbook—has become a powerful tool for teaching children about entrepreneurship, confidence, and financial literacy.
In partnership with Jackson CDC, our 6th graders have spent weeks exploring what it means to earn money, save it, invest it, and turn an idea into a real business. Working in pairs and small groups, they brainstormed concepts, created products, and practiced the skills young entrepreneurs use every day. Many successful business owners start young—and the next one could be a Jackson Gator.
Come celebrate their creativity, visit their student‑run booths, and enjoy an evening filled with food, drinks, and community pride. We can’t wait to cheer on these bright young innovators as they showcase everything they’ve learned.
Tuesday, March 10th
5:30 pm-7:00 pm
Located in the School Cafeteria - entrance on 7th Street
March Resident Cohort
Our March Resident Cohort kicks off today—a four‑week journey where neighbors come together once a week to learn about the vision, mission, and work of the Jackson CDC. Each session explores how we’re strengthening the Jackson neighborhood and the many ways you can get involved, contribute your voice, or simply learn more about what’s happening in our community.
Participants will meet fellow Jackson neighbors, share conversation over a delicious meal, and enjoy free childcare and translation services to ensure everyone can fully participate.
If you’d like to join a future cohort, in April or May, please email rhondadueck@jacksoncdc.org to sign up.
