Fresno City Council Meeting
On Thursday, September 17th, City Council will consider a proposal by wealthy developers to rezone property along Elm Avenue—which would reduce space for housing and small businesses, while adding more polluting industrial uses to an area already overburdened with them. The Southwest neighbors have met and spoken up against this idea—it’s time for us to add our voices to theirs!
At the same Council meeting, but just before the Elm Avenue project, the Council will also consider the Central Southeast Area Specific Plan (CSESP). When it’s ready, this Plan could be good for Southeast Fresno. BUT—the City hasn’t yet met the legal requirements for adopting the plan and is only pushing it now as a trade-off deal with the Elm Avenue developers. Let’s be clear with our City Council: we want good planning decisions, not half-baked plans just to make developers happy.

Facing Fresno Workshop
Facing Fresno trainings are an opportunity to learn about racism and better understand its impact on Fresno. They have been designed to foster group dialogue and both individual and collective learning about racism, within a safe and brave space. With generous support from our sponsor, we offer sessions free of cost that are open to community members over 18.
The next training is an all-day event, totaling 7.5 hours.
Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
Coffee and pastries will be provided in the morning. Lunch will also be provided.
Note on attendance: We ask that interested individuals attend all day of the training. We understand that emergencies occur and ask for timely communication to accommodate training slots.

City Council Special Meeting - (CANCELLED- DUE TO NO QUORUM)
City Council has canceled today’s workshop and rescheduled it for Thursday, Sept. 3rd.
Neighborhoods across the City of Fresno stood shoulder to shoulder against SEDA. It’s time now to stand up with our neighbors in Southeast and Southwest Fresno, to help them protect their neighborhoods, too.

On Saturday, May 16th from 9–11 AM, you’re are invited to enjoy a delicious waffle breakfast, a rock‑painting party, and exciting outdoor games. Be ready to get soaked — water activities are part of the fun, so dress accordingly!

FUSD School Board Meeting
The Fresno Unified School District Board Meeting is an important space for families to stay informed about decisions that affect students, classrooms, and neighborhood schools. This meeting also matters because the proposed SEDA development could significantly impact FUSD if it moves forward. Many families are concerned that rapid development without proper planning may strain already crowded schools, increase class sizes, and redirect resources away from existing students.
If you believe the SEDA plan could negatively affect your child’s education or your neighborhood schools, this is the time to voice your concerns. Let the FUSD School Board know you want them to ADOPT Resolution #26‑65 opposing SEDA and stand with families who are advocating for responsible development that protects students and schools.

Join neighbors, families, and volunteers as we come together to care for the Jackson community. This year’s cleanup includes litter pickup, beautification projects, and a fun Volunteer After Party at the H Street Parking Lot across from Chukchansi Park (H Street and Inyo). The celebration will include free food from Fresno Street Eats food trucks, live music, and family activities.
Register by April 13th to receive a free tie‑dye shirt. All ages are welcome — everyone must register.
