Lowell Tour: Art History and Culture

Spend the day exploring one of Fresno's first neighborhoods. Ride the trolly, discover the art and explore the rich culture of our home.

Lowell has a story worth telling.

Join us for the Lowell Neighborhood Tour: Art, History & Culture — a trolley ride through Fresno's first streetcar neighborhood. We're stopping at historic homes, murals, community landmarks, and hearing from the people who have shaped this place for generations.

This is a day of music, history, and celebrating the culture of our community.

We’re excited to have you join us—rain or shine.

Most stops are covered, but we recommend bringing an umbrella and wearing comfortable shoes so you can fully enjoy the day.

You can begin the tour at any site between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Below are the tour locations:

  • Lowell CDC Office – 234 N. Broadway

  • Chicano Youth Center – 1515 E. Divisadero St.

  • Dickey Playground – 50 N. Calaveras St.

  • Lowell Community Garden – 486 N. Poplar

  • San Pablo Park – 511 N. San Pablo

  • CCAT & SER – 267 N. Fulton

Please note: Spanish-translated trolley tours will depart from San Pablo Park at 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM, and 2:00 PM.

Also, don’t forget—four local restaurants will be offering discounts on the day of the tour. Just show your trolley ticket to take advantage of these special offers!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Jackson 6th Grade Entrepreneurial Fair

Jackson 6th Grade Entrepreneurial Fair

Join us for an inspiring evening at the Jackson 6th Graders Entrepreneurial Extravaganza Fair! This year’s event is rooted in the work of Ty Allan Jackson, founder of Big Head Books. In 2010, Ty launched his publishing company after self‑publishing Danny Dollar Millionaire: The Lemonade Escapade, a book inspired by his young son’s curiosity about how kids can build successful businesses. The book—and its companion workbook—has become a powerful tool for teaching children about entrepreneurship, confidence, and financial literacy.

In partnership with Jackson CDC, our 6th graders have spent weeks exploring what it means to earn money, save it, invest it, and turn an idea into a real business. Working in pairs and small groups, they brainstormed concepts, created products, and practiced the skills young entrepreneurs use every day. Many successful business owners start young—and the next one could be a Jackson Gator.

Come celebrate their creativity, visit their student‑run booths, and enjoy an evening filled with food, drinks, and community pride. We can’t wait to cheer on these bright young innovators as they showcase everything they’ve learned.

Tuesday, March 10th

5:30 pm-7:00 pm

Located in the School Cafeteria - entrance on 7th Street

March Resident Cohort

March Resident Cohort

Our March Resident Cohort kicks off today—a four‑week journey where neighbors come together once a week to learn about the vision, mission, and work of the Jackson CDC. Each session explores how we’re strengthening the Jackson neighborhood and the many ways you can get involved, contribute your voice, or simply learn more about what’s happening in our community.

Participants will meet fellow Jackson neighbors, share conversation over a delicious meal, and enjoy free childcare and translation services to ensure everyone can fully participate.

If you’d like to join a future cohort, in April or May, please email rhondadueck@jacksoncdc.org to sign up.

Valentine's Day

💘 A Fun Valentine’s Day Fact

Valentine’s Day traces back to ancient Roman traditions, but the modern celebration of cards, chocolates, and love notes really took off in the 1840s, when the first mass‑produced Valentine cards were sold in the United States. They were so popular that the woman behind them, Esther Howland, became known as the “Mother of the American Valentine.”
